For 1965, Chevy added the big-block “Mark IV” engine to the Corvette options list, a 396 cubic inch version rated at 425-hp. For 1966, the big-block became a 427, offered in two stages of tune: 390 or 425-hp. With the 427 came the new “power bulge” hood. Big-block cars had stiffer suspension, a heavy-duty clutch and a better cooling system. Acceleration was phenomenal: zero-to-sixty in less than five seconds.

In 1967, there were three different production 427 options. This car has RPO L71, a solid-lifter Tri-power version with three two-barrel Rochester carbs. It was rated at 435-hp, although it is widely thought to have produced a good deal more. To top it off, this car is one of 3,754 cars that left the plant with this engine, which also has the sought after four-speed manual transmission.

The Goodwood Green with black example being offered has been the recipient of a very nice ground-up restoration and is presented with a highly-detailed engine bay with chrome dress-up elements, very nice interior, clean undercarriage and well-executed paint (albeit with “a bit” of orange peel). The engine compartment has all of its correct hoses, clamps and paint markings found under the hood. Among the list of equipment found on the car is steel wheels with chrome trim rings (Rally wheels), redline radial tires, side pipes, wood three-spoke steering wheel, AM/FM radio, correct top, power steering, in-dash clock and “perfect” gauges. The entire platform is very nicely restored and the seven miles on the odometer are thought to be the mileage since this process was completed.

Big-block Corvettes are very much in demand. Certainly this is one quite worthy of serious consideration.
