The 88th example of just 150 365 GTCs built, chassis number 12173 is a truly compelling example of one of Ferrari’s greatest grand tourers. It was acquired by its current enthusiast owner in 1973 from Peter Rosenmaier and has remained with him ever since. Employed by the engine development department of Ford Germany for the majority of his ownership, the car’s current custodian took it upon himself to service and maintain the car, as he is a very qualified mechanic. Its current shade of yellow paint remains as it was the day it was purchased by the current owner, and the interior remains completely original, with the exception of the floor mats in the boot being replaced. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the car still retains its original engine and gearbox.

Garaged alongside a number of other significant Italian sports cars, the car has been regularly maintained and enjoyed for its whole life, just as Enzo Ferrari would have wanted. Brian Laban, in his book, Ferrari, said of the 365 GTC, 'In Ferrari terms, the 365 GTC was something of a wallflower, in production for barely a year, with only 150 examples made, and seen by many enthusiasts as boringly conservative. But those who know better cite it as one of the finest all-rounders that Maranello ever built.'

La vernice, con la sua tonalità gialla, è rimasta quella di quando la macchina fu acquistata nel 1973, mentre gli interni, fatti salvi i tappetini del bagagliaio, sono rimasti quelli originali installati a Maranello. Inoltre, è stato confermato che la macchina è, tuttora, dotata del motore e del cambio originali.

Tenuta nel garage di fianco ad un certo numero di altre importanti vetture sportive italiane, la macchina è stata regolarmente mantenuta attiva e moderatamente utilizzata per tutta la sua vita, proprio come avrebbe voluto Enzo Ferrari. Brian Laban, nel suo libro 'Ferrari', scrive della 365 GTC, 'In termini Ferrari, la GTC 365 è stata qualcosa durato lo spazio di una primavera, in produzione per appena un anno, con soli 150 esemplari realizzati, vista da molti appassionati come noiosa e conservatrice. Chi la conosce meglio, al contrario, la cita come una delle migliori granturismo mai realizzate a Maranello.'

Una vera Ferrari per il signore sportivo; una vettura ben tenuta, giusta, con il motore anteriore a 12 cilindri, dovrebbe essere una delle presenze obbligatorie nel garage di un collezionista appassionato del marchio.
