Eugene “Bob” Gregorie’s natural abilities for timeless design have been duly recognized, as he was saluted with the Designer Lifetime Achievement Award at the 1990 Eyes on the Classics Auto Show in Detroit. While his stint at Ford may seem brief, Gregorie was largely responsible for the practical but modern lines of the Ford from 1935 to 1948; several of these models are highly regarded by today's collectors. His efforts can be seen in this attractive 1948 Ford convertible, finished in Tuscan Tan with a cloth and leather interior, and it continues to show very well with correct components, including the AM radio and under-dash heater. The power cloth top has a good fit and finish with no loose stitching. Beneath the hood and undercarriage is an antique that has been maintained for driving and retains an honest, original appearance. Some basic cleaning and cosmetic attention will easily bring this timeless piece back to show quality.
