Offered here is a replica of a Jaguar C-Type built by Proteus. Founded in 1980 and building cars in Henley-on-Thames and Coventry, roughly 260 C-Type replicas have been built by the company since their founding. Boasting a fiberglass front clamshell and rear boot-section with other aluminum body components, Proteus’ aim was to create replicas both faithful to Jaguar’s original product and competitive in modern historic racing.
This appears to be one of Proteus’ earlier C-Types and was likely built in kit form, utilizing a donor car sourced by the initial purchaser of the kit. A previous U.K. V5 on file shows that this car was registered to Nigel John Forsyth of Malton in July of 1985. According to the consignor, this example was previously owned by Paolo Morigi, a well-known Swiss racing car collector. The car was campaigned by him in Italy in a number of vintage racing events throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s before his passing, as verified by numerous scrutineering stickers present on the car’s interior.
It has been fitted with a roll cage, racing harnesses, and a fire suppression system for historic racing, Accompanied by a FIVA identity card issued in October of 2017, the history file also includes previous FIA paperwork including a prior Historic Technical Passport issued in 2006 and a U.K. V5 that has been cancelled for export.
