Porsche’s flagship Type 930 took the automotive world by storm when it was introduced in 1974. By 1978, the 911 Turbo had become a bit more civilized and powerful than its earlier brethren. Its 3.0-liter engine had grown to 3.3-liters and power had grown to a solid 265 hp and an impressive 291 foot-pounds of torque feeding through a four-speed, limited-slip transaxle.

As with the standard 911 Turbo, in this modified example, the engine performs the starring role. Running a short-stroke 3.2-liter version of the 1978 Turbo motor, this example has been equipped with a Mahle 98mm forged piston kit, with twin plug heads, new valves with titanium valve retainers. Exhaust is funneled from the engine via a Fad speed ceramic-coated turbo exhaust manifold and charged back again via a KKK K27 7200-series turbocharger. Total boost is now stock 0.8 bar, tuned to give ample performance regardless of engine speed.

This Turbo has also been treated to a cosmetic upgrade, including Dark Green Metallic paint over a black leather interior with blue-and-green tartan cloth inserts. Genuine RUF gauges and a spartan three-spoke steering wheel complete the interior refresh, which presents in excellent condition. Exterior customizations include the deletion of the rear reflector and fitting of subtle inset-style turn indicators. A pair of yellow H4 headlight assemblies contrasts well with the green paint. The suspension setup also received a makeover, with an adjustable KW V3 Series Coilover kit and a set of sold-out fifteen52 Magnus Walker “Outlaw 001” forged wheels.

Unlike many other modified examples, the overall theme is unexpectedly subtle, with no overstated “Turbo” graphics, racing stripes, or overt performance parts stickers – even the limited-edition wheels have been relieved of their branding. Benefitting from its performance and aesthetic upgrades, this custom Porsche 930 is believed to have traveled less than 31,000 miles. With recent services and mechanical work completed, all that is left is to enjoy this well-tuned 911 Turbo.
