One of less than 25 extant, and originally, the only silver paint delivery example

Chrysler’s 1959 300E came equipped with a 413-cubic inch wedge head engine, which produced a potent 380 brake horsepower. An exotic looking brute in its own right, it marked the first year Chrysler adopted the 413-cubic inch engine and was fitted with dual quad carbs. Only 140 examples were produced for the year and only 25 have been verified as surviving, making them seldom-seen in the marketplace.

While today this example is painted a lustrous black with a nearly unworn beige interior, it is the car’s previous color scheme that makes it all the more important. Reportedly, this car was the only example of a 300E convertible originally finished in silver, and it was also fitted with a black interior. A truly striking color scheme, the Chrysler’s next owner will have the option and distinction of returning the car to this unique color.

Nevertheless, the Chrysler has all the correct body contours, with excellent paint and panel fit throughout. It is equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seats, an AM radio, and the highly-sought after factory air conditioning. The underside has been fully restored to standards that are better than factory, which would be truly dazzling with a superficial cleaning and detail.

This smart-looking example is set off by the red grille fascia accents and comes with an original 1959 Chrysler Handbook, as well as the original Owner’s Service Certificate and Service Chart. While hindsight has shown the 300E to be every bit as deserving of the accolades its predecessors received, there is undoubtedly no more desirable example of the series than this particular car. As an original air conditioned, silver with black example, it is without question the most rare of all surviving examples.
