The SIII, introduced concurrently with the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III, was produced from late 1962 through October 1965 and was the final Bentley with separate body-and-chassis construction suitable for the finest custom coachbuilt bodywork. With slightly higher top-speed potential due to its carefully selected rear-end ratios and quite rare with only 312 examples built, the SIII was sought after by enthusiasts.

With its clean and elegant styling by freelance designer Vilhelm Koren, the SIII Continental Coupé had a decidedly rakish profile with attractively angled wheel arches, straight-through fender lines, smooth slab sides and unique, angled headlamps. Mechanical advancements for the SIII included a compression increase to 9.0:1 for the aluminium block-and-head 6.2-litre V-8, enlarged carburettors and a corresponding output boost of about 20 hp.

The rare, original left-hand drive example offered here, BC98LXA, is rarer still as one of only 30 Park Ward-bodied SIII Continental Coupés ever produced. According to a copy of the original build sheet, it was shipped new to America and sold to Mr. Sidney Le Fiell, a resident of Atherton, California. Although details of its subsequent history are limited, it is known that the Continental was eventually sold to France and then to the prior owner of Turin, Italy.

Described by the current owner as remaining in good overall condition today, the car is equipped with air conditioning and finished in the handsome colour combination of sage/pistachio green with a dark green roof and a tan leather interior. This SIII Continental is highly desirable and collectable as an incredibly rare example of one of the final coachbuilt Bentleys ever produced. As such, it offers a superb combination of bespoke styling, mechanical sophistication and excellent value.
