With the release of the smaller Silver Shadow, Rolls-Royce made a dramatic departure from its much larger Silver Clouds of years past. The two-door Corniche models, launched in 1971, brought a whole new group of buyers into the Rolls-Royce dealerships. With production continuing through 1996 (before a re-introduction in 2000), the stately, elegant and exceptionally luxurious Corniche was one of the most desirable and distinctive Rolls-Royces ever offered – a symbol of prestige the world over.

The final version, prior to the limited “Corniche S,” was introduced in 1993 as the Corniche IV, and only 219 were built in total. Although this latest model carried over the elegant design of its predecessors, it benefited from adaptive suspension, a four-speed automatic transmission, driver and passenger airbags, a CFC-free air conditioning system and a glass rear window, among other smaller improvements.

This left-hand drive example was originally supplied to the United States by Euro Motorcars and shipped to New York after being built. Finished in white with tan leather hides and matching white piping, it has a tan Everflex power hood and a burr walnut dashboard. Features from new include an air-bag system, cocktail cabinets to both doors, painted door mirrors, air horns and a tinted ‘Sundym’ windscreen. Understood to have had just one owner from new in the United States, this well-presented example was more recently imported to the UK at the start of 2011 and as such has had all EU taxes paid. A new headliner will be fitted prior to the sale. With mileage showing 54,000 miles on the odometer, this desirable and well-presented Corniche IV is in excellent all around condition.
