While Rosso Corsa has always been popular on any Ferrari, it can be argued that iconic color was at its height of popularity during Testarossa, 512 TR and F512 M production. As such, it goes without saying that other colors on these cars are a rare sight, and in the case of the 512 TR on offer here, it is just one of six examples finished in Argento Metallizzato for the U.S. market of which only three boasted a Nero interior.

Chassis number 90927 was completed by Ferrari in August of 1991 and subsequently delivered new to its first owner through Cornes Motors of San Diego on January 7, 1992. This makes it one of the very earliest 512 TRs produced and delivered to a North American client, especially when considering that the 512 TR’s introduction to the U.S. market was at the Los Angeles Auto Show that same year, just five days prior to the date of this car’s delivery.

It comes as no surprise that such an early production example would be allocated to a VIP customer, and this car’s first owner was the late Ferrari collector Charles “Skeets” Dunn of Rancho Sante Fe, California. His new 512 TR would share garage space with some truly magnificent Ferraris including a 250 GT/L Lusso, 212 Inter, 340 MM, and a 410 Super America just to name a few. Skeets was an active member of the Ferrari Owners Club and regular attendee of car events across California up until his passing in 2021. With such an impressive stable, it was no wonder that Dunn was looking to stand out from the crowd in ordering his new 512 TR in Argento.

Dunn would keep the 512 TR for just over a year and its second owner would be Tom Brockmiller of Rolling Hills Estates, California, who purchased the car in April of 1993. At that point, the car had been driven just 1,592 miles from new according to an odometer disclosure statement issued at the time of his purchase. Like Dunn, Brockmiller was no strange to Ferraris, having been a longtime Ferrari owner, concours judge, and highly active member of the Ferrari Owner’s Club and Ferrari Club of America, serving the Southwest Region of the FCA in various roles including president and chairman.

Brockmiller would go onto own the 512 TR for thirty years, taking great pride in his ownership through not only driving and enjoying his car, but maintaining it regularly. Accompanying the car is a truly impressive file of service invoices consisting of every scheduled service according to the current owner, confirming the car’s current mileage, showing just under 33,800 miles at the time of cataloging, as original. In addition to this, the car is accompanied by its original manuals, service book, window sticker, and tool kit.

In more recent years the car has been looked after regularly by Eugenio’s Ferrari Service of San Dimas, California, with annual services being carried out by them including, 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024. After being acquired from Brockmuller by the selling dealer, the car received an engine-out major service inclusive of replacing the timing belts and an annual service with oil filer change and all fluids flushed. This work was undertaken by Ferrari of Newport Beach in January 2025, with them also rebuilding the shock absorbers in March 2025. The car has accrued minimal mileage since the completion of this work. Receipts are on file for previous major services in 2000, 2008, and 2018 (at which time the clutch was replaced and new tires were fitted at 28,092 miles). Finally, the car was granted Ferrari Classiche certification earlier this year and the certification binder will be delivered to the winning bidder via RM Sotheby’s following the sale.

Boasting a seldom seen color scheme and having remained in California from new with two prior well-known tifosi, it would be difficult to find a more alluring 512 TR anywhere in the world.
