540 bhp, 5,748 cc 65-degree V-12 engine, six-speed electro-hydraulic F1 transmission, front and rear independent suspension with coil springs, telescopic shock absorbers with adaptive damping and anti-roll bars, and four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase: 2,500 mm
Following the success of the 550 Barchetta, it was clear that Ferrari would offer its best clients a new, limited-edition convertible version of the 575M Maranello. If there was one complaint about the 550 Barchetta, it was that as a true Barchetta with only a rudimentary soft top, owners found themselves somewhat hesitant to use the car on a more regular basis or for extended journeys, fearing that they might get caught in the rain. Rather than simply fit a standard folding soft top to the 575M Maranello, Ferrari decided to create something completely bespoke for its newest car.
Developed specifically for the 575 Superamerica, the Revochromico rotating hardtop achieved Ferrari’s goals in terms of both usability and uniqueness. Utilizing a carbon fibre frame integrated with electrochromic glass, it also provides all the security of a conventional soft top when in place. As the opacity of the glass can be adjusted to allow varying degrees of sunlight into the cabin, this truly offers the best of both worlds between the freedom of a convertible and the comfort of a closed coupe.
This particular 575 Superamerica, finished in Rosso Corsa over Sabbia, was originally delivered to Denmark and currently resides in Switzerland with its second owner. Over the course of its life, it has only been driven 11,000 kilometres and remains in wonderful condition throughout. Furthermore, the car is accompanied by a file of service receipts from throughout its life attesting to its regular service and maintenance.
Clearly the recipient of loving care and proper maintenance throughout its life, a well-maintained and preserved 575 Superamerica would be a welcome addition to any collection, and this example is no exception to the rule.
