Titled Le Pneu Michelin à Vaincu le Rail, this rare, original poster created by Ernest Montaut in 1905 depicts one of the most famous “Dawn of Motoring” exploits: a 400-mile race between the American Captain Heath’s 120 HP Panhard Grand Prix car and, at the time, the fastest train in the world. The Michelin-equipped Panhard comfortably beat the train by more than 30 minutes, thus demonstrating the durability of the Panhard’s Michelin tires. The poster is in outstanding original condition with a few minor folds visible. It is conservation linen mounted, framed to edge, and glazed under UV-resistant Perspex.
