The introduction of the Ferrari 512 BBi represented something of a mid-cycle update for the Prancing Horse’s acclaimed Berlinetta Boxer platform. The 365 GT4 BB was the first of the series to deploy a layout centred around a mid-mounted flat-12 engine, and laid a marker for its successors with attractive “wedge”-like exterior styling. The 512 followed in 1976, staying in production for five years, before Ferrari bosses added Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection to the repackaged 512 BBi. For many clients, the addition of fuel injection was a welcome change, and this variant is often considered to be the most liveable of Ferrari’s Berlinetta Boxer models.

The example offered here was completed by the factory finished in Rosso Corsa over Pelle Nera, a colour combination it retains to this day. The Ferrari was delivered to Auto Becker, the marque dealership in Düsseldorf, Germany, in November 1983. Certified by Ferrari Classiche in May 2015, the car retains its matching-numbers chassis, engine, and gearbox. The odometer reads just 5,208 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. Today, the 512 BBi is coveted among Ferrari enthusiasts seeking the usability of a classic Prancing Horse with modern features.
