By the late 1980s, Alois Ruf’s eponymous German firm was no longer a mere Porsche tuner. Granted full manufacturer status by the German government, the tides had turned for RUF in the wake of its ferocious CTR “Yellowbird,” which amped up the Porsche 911 3.2 into a 213-mph monster.
To commemorate 30 years of the CTR, RUF unveiled the CTR Anniversary at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show—precisely the same event which saw them debut the original CTR in 1987. Built entirely in-house, the limited-production CTR Anniversary features an advanced carbon fiber monocoque chassis with aluminum subframes, a fully-integrated roll cage, and pushrod suspension with active adjustable dampers. Carbon body panels keep dry weight to 2,646 pounds.
Powered by a 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine producing 710 horsepower and 649 pound-feet of torque, the CTR Anniversary reaches 0–60 mph in under 3.5 seconds en route to its top speed of 224 mph. A RUF-designed seven-speed manual transmission, built by ZF, maintains a direct and engaging driving experience, while the model’s interior reflects RUF’s philosophy: pure driving focus. There is no large touchscreen or cluttered controls—just analog gauges, minimal switches, and exposed carbon reminding you of the car’s lightweight structure.
Only 50 RUF customers were invited to purchase a CTR Anniversary, and this one is number 25 in the production run. A US-market car from new, this special and uniquely specified RUF is presented in paint-to-sample Riviera Blue over special black buffalo leather upholstery with Riviera Blue stitching throughout and a pair of signature “lollipop” fixed-back Kevlar-carbon seats and pepita inserts. In line with his distinguished taste, the consignor not only ordered this CTR Anniversary in a one-off colorway, but also demanded every carbon fiber option available, as well as the ever-useful front-axle lift system, lightweight doors, Riviera Blue seatbacks, Riviera Blue seatbelts, and a black Alcantara headliner. The car’s Riviera Blue calipers of its carbon-ceramic brake system are tucked within custom-ordered light alloy wheels finished in Matte Titanium.
CTR number 25 was completed at Pfaffenhausen in May 2022 and duly shipped to the consignor’s Florida home. Now offered today with fewer than 200 miles since new at cataloguing time, this incredible CTR Anniversary would make for a truly spectacular addition to any collection.
Given the incredibly exclusive build numbers of this model, which have all been spoken for, similar opportunities to acquire such a pure driver’s car will forever be hard to come by.
