This bronze statue, titled “La Bella Macchina,” was discovered near Modena Italy in 2023 and acquired by the consignor in 2024. It is said to have been produced using the lost-wax casting method, whereby a wax model was sculpted and covered in plaster to create a mold for a final casting in copper. A full-scale interpretation of a pontoon-fender 1959 barchetta, it weighs approximately 1,600 pounds, despite being hollow.

Acquired by the consignor in early 2024, the artist’s name is unknown, but he is said to have been in the autobody or fabrication business and worked on this sculpture in his spare time over many years, completing it in retirement.
