As a company that has always been in touch with their past, Porsche has re-released the Speedster several times since its debut in 1954. For the 991 generation of the 911, Porsche took the Speedster’s signature twin streamliners and translated them into the modern age with a contemporary design constructed from a carbon fiber composite. Both the front and rear fascia are made of lightweight polyurethane. As with the Porsche 911 R, the Speedster’s front fenders and hood are fashioned out of carbon fiber composite, but the sculpted rear lid is unique to the Speedster. The rear lid is molded from a single component, increasing its structural rigidity, and it holds the record for the largest body panel Porsche has built out of the lightweight material.

Underneath the skin, the Speedster’s suspension is based on the celebrated setup from the Porsche 911 GT3, with the same active suspension management system with model-specific calibrations for more pleasurable cruising. Nimble handling is achieved through the standard rear-axle steering system, also shared with the other cars in Porsche’s 911 GT model line, though the system has been specifically tuned for the Speedster. The standard Porsche ceramic composite brakes give the Speedster equal stopping power to the 911 GT3.

Like any true Speedster, this example features a custom windshield, which has been shortened compared to its cabriolet sibling, its angle made more acute for a rakish appearance and to bring the driver even closer to the road. On either side of the twin streamliners, two special milled and gold-plated badges reading “Speedster” are affixed.

Perhaps the two most celebrated of the Speedster’s features both came as standard: the manual transmission and a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine. The pairing of a high-revving motor and short-shifting gearbox offers Speedster owners the maximum in driver engagement, especially when considering the transmission and powerplant in question come from Porsche’s renowned GT line. Porsche’s GT division tuned their already-potent GT engine to produce even more power in the Speedster by using high-pressure fuel injectors and individual throttle valves, which are unique to this model, generating 502 horsepower in total.

Offered from the legendary White Collection, this 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster shares the immense attention to detail one would expect from a car ordered new its hallowed halls. Following a similar theme to the collection’s GT2 RS, GT3 RS, and 918 Spyder, this Speedster is finished with a Grand Prix White exterior over a Yachting Blue interior. However, The CXX sheet on file reveals the totality of the owner’s vision. Gazing into the passenger cabin, an awe-inspiring display from the craftsmen at Porsche’s custom tailoring department becomes apparent. Yachting Blue hides with Pebble Grey stitching cover nearly every surface from the steering column across the dashboard to the door cards and the into footwells. Even the air vents and front trunk are completed with this luxurious treatment. Carbon fiber strips streak across the upper dashboard into the door cards and are suitably matched by the surrounding trim of the carbon and leather gear shift. The exterior received an equal degree of fine custom details with the stone guards finished in blue and matched by blue carbon fiber mirror caps. Looking closer, one will notice all metal mesh fitted on the various intakes around the vehicle shows a blue hue. The appearance of this Speedster is truly a sight to behold in person.

Bearing serial number 1853/1948, this Porsche showed just 150.5 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing and is consequently in factory-fresh condition. A suite of items will accompany the car including correspondence regarding the build, an Exclusive Manufaktur sample box, indoor car cover, two 1:18 scale Speedster models, and delivery wrappings. Lastly, a Porsche Design Chronograph built to commemorate the Speedster will also be included upon the sale of this automobile. For continued protection, the entire car has been wrapped in Xpel film.

Already an exclusive, high-performance Porsche, this 911 Speedster is a true one-of-a-kind example that will be the highlight of any collection and will remain a sought-after piece of company history for decades to come.
