78 bhp, 3,405 cc six-cylinder inline engine, four-speed floor shift synchromesh manual transmission, upper wishbone and lower transverse spring front suspension, swing axle and coil-spring rear suspension, and hydraulically actuated front and rear brakes. Wheelbase: 3,302 mm

Launched in 1937 as the direct successor to the Type 290, W18, the Type 320, W142, incorporated several cosmetic and design changes, for an updated appearance. The body was given longer overhangs and was widened, which gave the new Type 320 a more streamlined form. Also, the headlight bar was eliminated, and the radiator was sloped back in favour of, what was then, modern design.

For the 1938 model year, a larger engine, which this example utilises, was offered. The engine, in anticipation of lower quality fuels due to fuel shortages, had its cylinder bore enlarged and its compression ratio lowered. However, power output was claimed to be unchanged at 78 brake horsepower, along with its top speed of 126 km/h. The Type 320 remained nearly unchanged from 1938 until production ended in 1942.

The seven-passenger Cabriolet F offered here is an older restoration in a two-tone wine and black, and it appears to have been well-maintained over the years, with cosmetic freshening as required. Accessorised with dual side-mounted spares, body-colour disc wheels with chrome covers, a wood-grained luggage rack, and a divider window that allows the car to be used as a limousine with the top raised. It has a stately, formal aura, which is befitting of a convertible that is to be driven by chauffeur on the most elegant of occasions.
