The TR2 was the first, true post-war Triumph sports car. The TR3 of 1955 was simply an evolution, whilst the TR4 signalled the end of one era—and the beginning of another. A completely new body featured wind-up windows, and while the purists howled, everyone else rejoiced. Visually identical to the Michelotti styled TR4, the TR5 hid the main differences under the body, the most significant of which was its engine. The 2.5-litre fuel-injected six developed around 150 bhp; at the time, fuel injection (or PI, petrol injection, as it was sometimes called) was uncommon in road cars. Triumph claimed in their sales brochure that it was the "First British production sports car with petrol injection." The new straight-six could propel the TR5 from zero to 50 mph in just 6.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 125 mph.

This lovely TR5 was built in December 1967 and dispatched on 17 January, 1968 as a home market model through the dealer in Glasgow. It was acquired in Switzerland for CHF 50,000 in 2003 in fully restored condition and has since received minor mechanical fettling but has otherwise remained un-driven. Strikingly presented in red with black trim, it is Swiss registered and described as immaculate.
