The vehicle being offered, Israeli Trail Blazer (Gordon) Armored Recovery Vehicle (ARV), is a new restoration and is in excellent condition. It is possibly an ex-Budge Collection vehicle. The exterior paint is excellent with the interior paint just needing to be cleaned. The driver's seat is in place and is serviceable. The driver's instrument panel operates normally. Master power controls are in place and function normally. The transmission, clutch and throttle control all operate normally. The engine starts and runs nicely and operates off of its own fuel tanks. The left steering brake needs to be adjusted. The rear winch and cable are in excellent condition as is the rear spade. The lifting boom appears to be in excellent condition with all hydraulics in place; however, they have not been tested for functionality.
Little is known about the Trail Blazer (Gordon) ARV. It appears that only a small handful (possibly 4) were built by the Israelis during the late 1960s or early 1970s. Converted from late model M4A1(76)W hulls, the Trail Blazer features a large single boom crane mounted on the right front of the hull. Spades are mounted on the front and rear of the vehicle to assist in stabilizing the vehicle during recovery operations. Equipped with HVSS and a Cummins diesel engine, the Trail Blazer could tow loads up to 72-tons. Photos of at least one Trail Blazer in action during the 1973 Yom Kippur War are known to exist.
