As Pagani’s second model, the Huayra had big shoes to fill in following the incredible Zonda when it was first introduced in 2011. It retained a distinct character all its own yet did not stray from the company’s values of combining art and science to make a truly extraordinary automobile. With the Huayra’s success, Pagani firmly cemented itself as a firm fixture in the hypercar industry. While the Huayra Coupe and Roadster were breathtakingly elegant, a more aggressive, limited-edition variants dubbed the Huayra BC was first introduced at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2016.
Named in honor of Benny Caiola, an early investor in Pagani and the marque’s very first customer, the BC Coupe received a boost to 764 horsepower, channeled exclusively to the rear wheels via a single-clutch, paddle-shifted, seven-speed sequential manual transmission. Despite the already lightweight nature of the standard Huayra, Pagani engineers managed to shave off more than 285 pounds for the BC through the introduction of a revolutionary “Carbo-Triax” composite material, reportedly 50 percent lighter and 20 percent stiffer than conventional carbon fiber. Additional savings came from a new titanium exhaust system, a stripped-down interior, and redesigned alloy wheels.
If the coupe wasn’t exciting enough, Pagani introduced the Huayra Roadster BC in 2019. While visually related to the BC Coupe, it shares few aerodynamic components and features an extensively modified version of the 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 engine, now tuned to deliver 800 horsepower and 775 lbs-ft of torque. Tipping the scales at just 2,755 lbs, the BC Roadster is 66 lbs lighter than the Huayra Roadster. Its fixed rear wing and active aerodynamic panels help to generate an incredible 1,100 lbs of downforce at speeds above 155 mph.
The final Huayra Roadster BC completed by Pagani, this car was dubbed “Quaranta” by the original owner, Italian for “forty,” as it is the 40th of just 40 Roadster BCs produced. Fittingly, in a tribute to its namesake, the car is finished in pearlescent white “Bianco Benny” paintwork. The Italian tricolore can be found throughout, including on its bodywork, snorkel, rear wing, rear diffuser, as well as the seats and steering wheel. Offset with red details throughout both the exterior and interior, the interior is trimmed in black Malevic leather with the steering wheel trimmed in carbon fiber and black Alcantara. Proclaiming its build number ‘40’ can be found embroidered on both headrests, as well as on the carbon fiber hardtop roof in Pagani’s traditional script. Finally, those responsible for building the car, including Horacio Pagani, have signed the engine bay.
Offered from single ownership from new, Quaranta presents today in virtually showroom-fresh condition throughout, showing less than 75 miles from new. Delivered new to Florida, the car has remained in the Sunshine State since new, appearing at a number of events in and around South Florida since being delivered in April 2022, including at the 2022 and 2024 Miami Concours, and most recently in the Hypercars class at ModaMiami earlier this year
Twenty-first century automotive artistry at its best, any Pagani is truly breathtaking to behold but Quaranta is truly a car to be cherished. As the final example of just forty cars built, it would hold pride of place within any collection of modern supercars.
