Race prepared and presented in the popular Skoal Bandit colors of the period, this Camaro IMSA racecar is driven by a powerful V-8 engine that is matched to a four-speed manual transmission that is sure to get your attention.
This 1986 IMSA Camaro was run in the GTO classification; it was professionally built by Riggins Engineering for the Buzz McCall, factory-backed General Motors effort. The CRD Chevrolet V-8 engine is reported as fresh, while the transmission is from Tex Powell (Tex Racing Enterprises), the rear end is a nine-inch, and the drivetrain also features a custom driveshaft. The components throughout the car are said to be “all the best,” as would be expected from a factory-backed racing effort. Among the other features is a singular racing seat with harness, rollcage, four-wheel disc brakes, fuel cell, full instrumentation, electronics, rear spoiler and other racing bred technologies.
The Camaro has an extensive history at the 24 Hours of Daytona where it was driven by Jack Baldwin, Max Jones, Walt Bohren, Buzz McCall and a host of others. Also included in the sale are the original team uniforms from 1986. The car is reported as currently race-ready, having previously run in various historic sports car races; it is eligible for many appropriate historic outings and should be an affordable, fun and reliable way to turn in some serious laps behind the wheel of your own racecar with a period history.
