- Tesla’s exciting and much-discussed foray into building an all-electric pickup truck
- Dual-motor model that delivers drive to front and rear wheels for 600 horsepower and a factory-claimed 550 kilometre range
- Presented with a matte black wrap to protect the distinctive stainless-steel bodywork
- Reportedly the first privately owned Cybertruck in the Emirates
Between the unveiling of the concept vehicle in 2019 and the model eventually entering production late in 2023, few cars have been the subject of quite so many column inches, news stories, videos, and podcasts as the Tesla Cybertruck. Styled as though it should belong in the Blade Runner universe while also taking inspiration from the submersible Lotus Esprit piloted by Roger Moore’s James Bond in The Spy Who Loved Me, the all-electric pickup truck proved intensely divisive for its love-or-hate looks and disruptive entry into the market.
What no-one could deny, however, was the car’s blistering performance credentials. In single- (rear-wheel-drive), dual- (all-wheel-drive), or triple-motor 'Cyberbeast' configuration, this 5.7-metre-long colossus could still out-accelerate almost all bona fide supercars. The single- and dual-motor car are claimed by Tesla to top out at 180 km/h, with the latter sprinting to 0-100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. That’s despite tipping the scales at 3,104 kilograms courtesy of the ultra-strong, Tesla-designed stainless-steel alloy for the body. Also equipped with innovations such as an efficient 48-volt architecture and fly-by-wire steering system, while highly controversial, the result was an undeniable feat of engineering.
This 2024 model year dual-motor Cybertruck is believed to be the first privately owned Cybertruck to have taken up residence in the Emirates. It is consigned to auction wearing a matt black wrap over the Cybertruck’s ubiquitous stainless-steel bodywork.
When looking back over automotive history, the Cybertruck is guaranteed to never fade into obscurity. This example would therefore make for a bold and fun addition to any collection.
