Among the prettiest and best-sounding cars of the new millennium, it was little wonder that the 2005-generation Vantage became the most popular model in Aston Martin history. Naturally, when the time came to replace it for 2017, the manufacturer faced a tall order.

There had already been plenty of clues as to how the successor might look, thanks to the design preview offered by the gadget-laden DB10 that was specially commissioned to star alongside Daniel Craig in the 24th James Bond film Spectre. Sure enough, like the movie star that had skidded its way down Rome’s cobbled streets, the new Vantage featured a shark-inspired imposing front grille, slender lights front and rear, plus swollen rear arches.

Two years later, in 2019, the Vantage AMR was added to the range. Underneath the bonnet rested a muscular twin-turbocharged, alloy V-8 engine displacing 4-litres to generate 510 horsepower. Quick work of the dogleg, seven-speed manual gearbox—which features automatic rev matching—would result in a 3.9-second sprint to 100 km/h, while the speedometer could keep climbing to 314. Losing an automatic transmission while gaining lighter carbon-ceramic brakes helped shed some 95 kilograms over the standard car.

While production was limited to just 200 units, the first 59 were even rarer ‘Vantage 59’ special editions built to mark the 60th anniversary of Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby winning the 1959 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans aboard their Aston Martin DBR1. The car offered here is one such example and is, accordingly, presented in Stirling Green with Lime accents while the interior is trimmed in Dark Knight leather and Alcantara.

Delivered new via Aston Martin Allgäu of Memmingen, Germany, this Vantage AMR was first registered in January 2020. It was subsequently serviced at Aston Martin München in July 2022 before being acquired by the consigning owner later in November. Now registered in the United Arab Emirates, the car benefits from a November 2023 visit to Alex Renner Motors Garage of Dubai. In addition to a service, the Vantage’s body was fully covered in paint protection film. In November this year, the car was treated to four new Pirelli P Zero tyres. Displaying 4,465 kilometres at the time of cataloguing, the car is accompanied by its service book and factory-supplied automatic battery charger.

As a limited-edition and harder-edged AMR that pays tribute to Aston Martin’s crowning motorsport glory, this Vantage makes for a fine addition to any sports car collection.
