The year 1969 saw “Boss” Mustang models offered in 302- and 429-cubic inch configurations, as well as the new Mach 1 fastback coupe. Available only with the sportsroof, as the fastback style had been renamed, it could be had with V-8s from 351- to 428-cubic inches, and, after the Boss 429 was dropped for 1971, two 429s, the Cobra Jet and Super Cobra Jet. An early version appeared in the James Bond film Diamonds are Forever.
