By 1941, Willys had won a bidding war against Bantam and Ford and secured a government contract to mass-produce the Jeep for military use. The Jeep’s tremendous importance to the war effort was proven later that year, when the United States was thrust into worldwide conflict by an attack on Pearl Harbor. Almost immediately, the Jeep became an integral part of the Allied war effort in every theater and endeared itself to thousands of soldiers who recognized its reliability and performance in combat. This example has benefited from an excellent and detailed restoration and has seen very little road use. It is refinished in proper Army Olive Drab Green from the exterior to the engine bay and undercarriage. Every element appears to be clean and professionally restored, particularly on the interior, where the green canvas upholstery, dash, and steering wheel are free of imperfections. The Jeep is fitted with a 12-volt electrical system, .50 caliber machine guns, and a rear PTO unit. It is an exciting unit to be added to any Americana collection.

As this is a charity lot, there will be no commission paid by the buyer, so 100% of the final hammer price on this Willys Jeep will be the amount donated to the Brookwood Community. Delivery will also be handled free of charge, courtesy of Reliable Carriers.

The Brookwood Community is a residential community in Brookshire, Texas, which offers approximately 200 adults with functional disabilities a home in a faith-based, educational, and therapeutic environment. Brookwoodians grow beautiful plants and make wonderful handcrafted gifts and, thereby, experience the pride of contributing to their own support as they grow socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Brookwood creates a true sense of belonging for all of its citizens and demands dignity and respect for adults with special needs.
