Throughout Ferrari’s history, some of the marque’s most revered models have been its long line of V-12 cabriolets. These models proved ever-popular with clients as they allowed for an unmatched driving experience, particularly during summer months. With the reintroduction of the front-engined V-12 concept with the 550 Maranello, the possibility of a successor to the legendary Daytona Spider arrived with the Barchetta version. This model was as successful as its forefather, so with the updated 575M a revised convertible was launched as the Superamerica in 2005.
Reusing such a historic model name associated with the height of luxury, the Superamerica introduced the revolutionary Revocromico rotating glass roof. This remarkable design used a carbon fibre structure which flipped 180º, allowing occupants to be entirely protected from the elements with the flick of a switch. Furthermore, the tint of the electrochromic glass roof could be manually selected.
Marketed by Ferrari as the world's fastest convertible, the Superamerica used the same glorious powertrain as the 575M allowing it to reach a top speed of 199 mph. Despite the technological marvels included in the Superamerica, only 52 kilograms were added to the weight over the 575M, allowing this to remain a sports car for proper drivers.
This wonderful example was delivered new in the timeless colour combination of Grigio Silverstone over a beautiful Cuoio leather interior. Ordered through the northern Italian concessionaire Rossocorsa s.r.l., this Superamerica was delivered in January 2006 to its first owner in Brescia. By 2014, this Ferrari was still registered in Italy before passing a TÜV inspection in Germany in early 2015. Shortly after this, it was offered through the 2015 RM Sotheby’s Villa Erba Auction where it was purchased by the consigning owner. Remarkably, at this point the odometer was showing just 666 kilometers on the odometer.
Since 2015, this Superamerica has been regularly serviced by Graypaul Ferrari with its most recent service completed in July 2022. Today, this Superamerica still presents as a fabulous low mileage example with just 1,961 kilometres on the odometer. In the current ownership, the vast majority of the kilometres were accrued during a Ferrari Cavalcade tour, an event which would be highly recommended to any future owner.
Importantly, this Superamerica is accompanied by its books, folio, and tools. An extremely well-presented example, this wonderfully specified Superamerica deserves to be carefully cherished by its next owner, either as a low-mileage show car or the perfect tool for this summer.
