Pontiac was rightfully proud of their now well-established Firebird and announced in Firebird-specific sales literature that “Firebird first touched pavement twelve years ago. Sharpening corners and shortening straightaways with a passion others envied. It was the brainchild of engineers and designers who never lost their love for the road. An ambitious bunch who kept that spirit alive through continuous innovation.”

Presented in code 29 Nocturne Blue with a Camel Tan interior, this 1979 Trans Am is described as a “museum / time capsule quality” car that has 7,300 miles registered on the odometer (though title is exempt). The gorgeous dark blue exterior is highlighted with gold decals and is a “rare hood bird delete” example. The Camel Tan is the deluxe doeskin vinyl interior; also presented in the same fine fashion.

The running gear is described as the original 403-cid, L80 V-8 engine with automatic transmission. Among the many assets of this car are original purchase receipt, original factory window sticker, original factory build sheet (which has never been removed), factory air that continues proper operation, owner’s manual, warraty book, maintenance schedule, all other glovebox items, original factory aluminum Snowflake wheels and even the original white letter Goodyear Polysteel Radial tires. Additional equipment includes cruise control, rear defogger, AM/FM radio; power windows, steering and brakes.

Principally original; Trans Am Firebirds in this condition and from this era are increasingly difficult to locate. To illustrate the approval Pontiac had for the Firebird in this form, the Trans Am factory showroom poster featured a similar machine in these stirring colors.
