Introduced in August of 2000 at the prestigious Monterey Historic vintage car races, the Saleen S7 was widely regarded as America’s first true supercar. Designed to run head-to-head with the most exotic sports cars in the world, the S7 proved that an all-American car could deliver everything and more than its contemporaries across the ocean could. Reflective of Saleen’s history manufacturing fully certified high-performance automobiles, the S7 was designed, engineered, manufactured and marketed by Saleen Inc.
The S7 will reach 60 miles per hour from a dead stop in less than three seconds and will blast through the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds on its way to a top speed in excess of 200 miles per hour. Extensive wind tunnel testing and aero-tuning has created enough down force that it has been stated that the S7, at 160 miles per hour, could theoretically be driven upside down.
The Saleen S7 is powered by a 427.8-cid, 625-hp all-aluminum V-8 engine that is mounted midship and is paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. Fully independent unequal-length double wishbones with coilover springs and lightweight aluminum dampers are incorporated into the front and rear suspensions. Ventilated disc brakes are found at all four corners and provide braking as effective as the acceleration.
The S7 on offer here is a 2003 model finished in beautiful silver over a black leather interior. The Saleen has many exciting styling cues and certainly looks the part as well as being quite effective in the speed with style department. This car has had a recent and documented comprehensive mechanical servicing, thus making it reliable supercar ready for road use. It has been sent to Saleen’s facility prior to the sale and is up-to-date on all necessary services. Having been sparingly driven, this S7 presents a rare opportunity to own one of America’s first true supercars in virtually as-new condition.
