The Ferrari 333 SP was a sports prototype car built by Michelotto to World Sports Car regulations for Ferrari. Unveiled at the end of 1993, the 333 SP marked Ferrari's official return to sports car racing after a 20-year absence. The car was built to compete in the IMSA's new WSC class, replacing the previous GTP cars.

While the 333 SP was in planning, Ferrari contracted Italian motor racing chassis manufacturer Dallara to develop the chassis and tub, leaving the maker to concentrate on the engine, a version of the V-12 powerplant used in the 1992 Ferrari F92A Formula One car. The package debuted in the third round of the 1994 IMSA GT Championship at Road Atlanta, securing the first two places.

Ferrari has long catered to its reliable clientele of racing enthusiasts, but every once in a while the Prancing Horse pulls out all the stops and surprises even the most devout tifosi. It was 20-years ago when Ferrari made the decision to return to sports car racing in the United States with the 333 SP, its first true sports car racer since the legendary 312 PB. As history quickly proved, the 333 SP was a worthy heir to the Ferrari prototype racing heritage.

Presented on offer today is a brand new Ferrari racing engine #084, unused and still supplied in the original Ferrari wooden crate. Any Ferrari V-12 engine is considered special, but one that can rev to 11,750-rpm and naturally produce 650 horsepower, is a truly phenomenal powerplant.
