Ford first introduced the Mustang Mach 1 in 1969, in an effort to phase out the “GT” moniker that had previously been a staple since its inception in 1965. With this model, Ford introduced the famed Cobra Jet series of engines, which offered an impressive amount of horsepower. This was Ford's mainstream performance automobile and truly solidified the company's position as a capable manufacturer of American musclecars. Ford effectively jam-packed the Corbra Jet with the perfect combination of looks and personality, making it equally as desirable today as it was when it was first introduced.
Of the 72,458 Mach 1’s produced in 1969 only 1,280 were ordered with the particular specifications of the car offered today. These options include the 428-cid (non-Ram-Air hood) Cobra Jet engine, C-6 Cruise-O-Matic transmission, Sports Deck rear seats, and power front disc brakes. In late 2006 the car underwent an extensive frame-off restoration that was completed in late 2010, to the tune of $204,000! Nothing was spared in bringing this car up to concours standards, and the car comes with a binder of receipts documenting the thorough restoration. The color was restored to a factory correct “Wimbledon White” over a “Dark Red Clarion Knit Vinyl” interior. Its 4V CJ V-8 is strong, fast and demonstrates loads of power. This Mustang doesn't hesitate to perform, so don’t be afraid to test the throttle when the opportunity presents itself. This is a fantastic opportunity to own one of the finest examples of Fords legendary Mach 1.
