One of the last Ferraris to be engineered and launched during company founder Enzo Ferrari’s lifetime, the 328 series replaced the immensely popular 308 in 1985. While still featuring Maranello’s transverse mid-mounted Dino V-8 engine, the new model sported extensive performance and aesthetic upgrades.
Designers at Pininfarina carefully balanced aesthetics with emerging research into drag coefficients and aerodynamic lift while staying true to Ferrari’s design language. Designer Leonardo Fioravanti’s original wedge profile was updated with a revamped nose and tail valance. Painted bumpers blended with the bodywork to further modernize the presentation. Gone were the exhaust louvers behind the retractable headlights, replaced with a larger front radiator louvre spanning the lower third of the hood.
Its predecessor’s all-aluminum, naturally aspirated Dino V-8 engine was enlarged to 3.2 liters and fitted with a Marelli electronic ignition system while retaining its bulletproof Bosch K-Jetronic fuel-injection system. An antilock brake system was added to the four-wheel ventilated disc brakes in 1988, the car’s final year of production.
The improved engine was good for a claimed 270 horsepower and capable of launching the car to 60 mph in under six seconds. Available as either a Gran Turismo Berlinetta (GTB) closed coupe or Gran Turismo Spider (GTS) with a removable roof panel, the former is far rarer with only 1,344 GTBs understood to have been produced, versus 6,068 GTS variants.
Presented in the traditional combination of Rosso Corsa over Beige leather, this 328 GTB was first sold through Lake Forest Sportscars outside of Chicago, Illinois, and spent its early life in Missouri and Massachusetts before being exported to the United Kingdom in 2013. The Ferrari eventually returned to the United States in 2021.
Showing 8,380 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing, this 328 GTB benefitted from servicing by Midwestern Auto Group of Dublin, Ohio, in February 2024. The work included a timing belt service and repairs to the brake system. In December 2025, the vehicle received new tires and a battery in addition to an annual service through Ferrari of Newport Beach. The ignition switch, hood struts, and fuel tank crossover hoses were also replaced. The Ferrari will be accompanied by tools and owner’s books, including the warranty booklet.
Ferrari 328s are now getting the respect they deserve, with the rarer, fixed-roof GTB holding special appeal to purists. Marque enthusiasts will be hard-pressed to find a more appealing example than this low-mileage, well-preserved 328 GTB in quintessential Ferrari colors.
