320 bhp, 4,390 cc DOHC V-12 engine with six Weber side-draft carburetors, five-speed manual transmission, four-wheel upper and lower wishbone, coil-spring independent suspension, and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes. Wheelbase: 98.4 in.
At its heart, Ferrari’s 365 GTC/4 was graced with the 4.4-liter V-12 from the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. However, the 365 GTC/4’s engine was fitted with side-draft carburetors in order to create a sleeker and lower hood line. The new car also boasted a very similar chassis to the Daytona, which had been stretched by 100 millimeters to allow for extra cabin room.
The 365 GTC/4, which was wonderfully appointed with sumptuous Italian leather, ZF power steering, power brakes, and a radio, was made to soak up hundreds of miles at high speed. The suspension was also fitted with a hydro-pneumatic self-leveling device on the rear suspension, presumably in an effort to help accommodate its owner’s luggage. Only 504 examples were built over an 18-month period, making it much rarer than its predecessor.
The 343rd example built, chassis number 15761 was originally delivered through William Harrah’s famous West Coast official Ferrari dealership, Modern Classic Motors of Reno, Nevada. While its earliest owners remain unknown, from the mid- to late-1980s it was owned by Kaora Miura of Los Angeles, California, in whose ownership it was listed in Ferrari Owners Club of America USA rosters between 1986 and 1988. Subsequently, the car made its way to France, where it was owned by Stephane Collaro, the popular French television personality, enthusiast, and onetime co-driver to Jean-Pierre Beltoise. The present owner acquired the car from Monsieur Collaro in early 2007.
Repainted in traditional Rosso Corsa and upholstered in Tan leather some time ago, the car is equipped with the desirable Cromodora “throwing star” wheels and records 68,270 miles. The clutch was rebuilt in 2009, less than 300 miles ago, and a fresh compression test shows positively; records for both are on file. The car has undergone regular maintenance and would be an excellent driver for FCA activities or for weekend getaways—with room for friends and luggage!
