Motor Trend presented the Pontiac GTO with the Car of the Year Award in 1968 stating, “Not only does it continue to establish the class standard in the fifth year of its existence, but it also represents a unique and revolutionary engineering/styling function.” Even today, the 1968 GTO continues to impress with such examples as this convertible.

GTO; The Great One, so it was called in period advertising; this model of car showed plenty of impressive street credentials in the world of concrete and asphalt. Just climb behind the wheel, negotiate a few turns, try a few challenging hills and you may never want to return to the commonality of a regular car.

This gorgeous 1968 Pontiac GTO Convertible is restored in its original color combination – Flambeau Burgundy (paint code N) with a white soft-top, parchment white bucket seat interior and similarly-toned top boot cover. The carpet, console and dash are presented in black, plus the dash face and console display woodgrain applique per factory spec. The engine is upgraded to a “YZ” coded 400-cid, 360 horsepower V-8 with functional ram air that performs in an excellent manner.

Other equipment includes power steering, power brakes, dual exhaust, Alpine stereo, Safe-T-Track rear end, console-shift automatic transmission with Hurst dual gate shifter, center console, hood tach, tilt steering wheel, retractable headlight covers, Rally II wheels, redline tires and PHS documentation. This is a great looking convertible that will easily be shared with loved ones and friends.
