General Motors and its Corvette Division approached Group Lotus in Great Britain in the mid-1980s with the idea of developing the world’s fastest production car. From that collaboration, ultimately came the "King of the Hill". The vehicle went on sale in 1990, available only as a coupe. It was distinguishable from other Corvette coupes by its four-inch wider tail section, 11-inch wide rear wheels, a convex rear fascia with four square-shaped taillights and a center stop-lamp attached to the top of the hatch glass.
The performance and handling earned the ZR-1 many accolades. This came at a figure nearly twice the cost of a non-ZR-1 edition. From 1990-1995, only 6,939 ZR-1’s were produced, making this quite a rare piece of machinery. The ZR-1 was to be the fastest Corvette ever with an approximate maximum speed of 180-mph, doing 0- to 60-mph in 4.2 seconds making it the quickest accelerating production car in the world at the time.
This Bright Red coupe has been driven only 5,400 miles and is not lacking in accessories as it has a CD player, power heated mirrors, power windows and hatch release, rear defroster, tilt steering, tinted glass and traction control. Both the removable glass and painted targa roof inserts are included. With a six-speed manual transmission given to propel the 375 horsepower fuel-injected 350-cid, 32-valve V-8 engine, this incredible Corvette is begging to be on the road. It is a rare opportunity to possess a refined limited production Corvette with unique character and breathtaking performance.
