Created by the legendary Ferdinand Porsche and his team in Wolfsburg, Germany, the classic Volkswagen Type 1, a marvel of functional engineering and design, holds a special place in automotive history. During its production run from 1938 to 1979, it is estimated that more than 21 million "Beetles," as they affectionately came to be known, were sold worldwide, making it one of the best-selling cars of all time.

This Beetle convertible is a rare and unique show-stopper. The consignor, the third owner, purchased it in 2009. The car had previously received a complete frame-off restoration using exclusively original and new-old-stock VW parts. The exterior was refinished in VW-correct Almond Green metallic by California's Livermore Collision Center and the interior was redone in tan vinyl and German square-weave carpet. A new tan Stayfast top was also installed. The owner has since kept the car in a climate-controlled facility and has had it maintained by the Volkswagen experts at Oak Hills Automotive in Longview, Texas.

The Beetle has also been upgraded with a wealth of authentic period-correct accessories, including Albert swan-neck mirrors, a Dehne fuel gauge, Motorola AM radio, VDO clock, Foxcraft fender skirts, a full circle horn ring and St. Christopher horn button, trip odometer, glove box light, parcel shelf, Waso shifter lock, backup lights, and more. Documentation and a tool kit in original condition are also included with the car.

Laden with features that distinguish it from the pack, the car has been featured in Dune Buggies and Hot VWs and Volksworld, as well as on YouTube's MotoManTV, and has claimed numerous awards, including Best of Show at a recent VW Classic.

While this beautiful Beetle cannot take one back to Woodstock, there are plenty of other places it can go.
