The 1968 L78 Super Sport Chevrolet Camaro is one of the most coveted cars of the musclecar era. The 396 cubic inch, 375 horsepower V-8 engine was limited to less than 5,000 of the more than 235,000 Camaro models assembled that year.

This beautifully restored SS/RS example is documented by its Protect-O-Plate and warranty book from when first locally sold. A Muncie four-speed close-ratio transmission car with console; this model includes the rare Posi-traction 4:56 Borg Warner gear rear end. This mid-year production car is further optioned with the D80 spoiler and J50 power front and rear drum brakes. Finished in a desirable one-year-only Camaro color Corvette Bronze paint with black vinyl roof (O2), and black vinyl bucket seats (714), this car is extremely rare.

Complementing this unique color ensemble are four redline tires surrounding pristine Rally wheels, as were offered in limited quantity on '68 models. The RS/SS is further appointed with AM/FM radio, factory smog pump (A.I.R.), tinted glass, floor mats, rear seat speaker, tri-volume horn and heavy-duty battery. Showing just over 79,200 miles (title is exempt), this is an elite documented, show quality big-block example.

In addition to the iconic SS "ice cube tray" big-block hood and gas cap, this collector car features the desirable RS styling of hideaway headlights, black body striping, and further exterior and interior accents. The perfect marriage of muscle and style, this Camaro has all the right stuff and is a joy to drive.

This model's Protect-O-Plate is reported to reflect its MQ L78 four-speed engine block suffix, paint and trim, 4:56 rear, Holley carburetor, power brakes, radio and corresponding production dates. Built in March of 1968 in Norwood, Ohio; this car's warranty book documents its sale one month later at Royal Chevrolet in Bound Brook, New Jersey. This fine automobile is freshly out of a private Chevy collection and ready to be cherished by a new discriminating enthusiast.
