The 1940 Ford models remain one of the most distinctive automotive designs of the prewar era, with an enduring style and flair that has made them a favorite for generations. The single-element, V-shaped grille of 1939 was broadened for better cooling, a sharp and distinctive visual feature. Inside, a modern dashboard in maroon and beige plastic employed rectangular forms for the instrument panel, and replaced previous woodgrained versions. Handsome, modern and comfortable, it is not surprising that collectors have enthusiastically sought the 1940 Ford. Its performance is up to the challenge of today’s highway speeds, and its styling has stood the test of time.

Finished in burgundy with a tan cloth interior; this “flathead” Ford V-8 engine, mated to a three-speed manual transmission, powers this Opera Coupe variant, which has two folding jumpseats positioned behind the front seat, replacing the standard parcel shelf. It has been restored to original condition and has all-steel body and fenders. The Ford is complemented by bumper guards, heater unit, color-keyed steel wheels with Deluxe trim rings and caps, plus whitewall tires.
