The Maserati Trident had not been seen in the states since 1991 and after a long absence made an enormous comeback with the debut of the elegant new Spyder and Coupe’ model. The Spyder was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2001 and the Coupe’ followed at the following year at the Detroit Motor Show. The two new models were based on the Maserati 3200GT which was sold only in Europe introduced a few years earlier. The engine had been increased to 4.2-liters and produced 385-hp for the US models. Upon introduction Forbes ranked the car as the best GT for 2001. Giorgetto Giugiaro, one of the biggest and most famous automotive designers in history was given the task of designing the new car. Elegant sophisticated design work was given to the new Coupe’ and Spyder to make a fantastic usable car that was functional but still had excellent power to match its looks. The Coupe’ and Spyder was offered with a conventional manual gearbox or a Formula-One electro-hydraulic manual gearbox. Most cars were fitted with this state of the art gearbox that was basically the same unit in the Ferrari’s that were available at the time. The Coupe’ and Spyder ran until model year 2006 with an enormous success rate that cemented Maserati’s future in the United States.

This Spyder was sold new to its first owner on February 15, 2005 at Ferrari/Maserati Newport Beach. The second owner purchased the car in 2008 where the car stayed in Orange County California until the current owner took possession. Always dealer serviced at either Maserati of Newport Beach or The Auto Gallery in Woodland Hills, this Spyder has only ever seen Maserati trained technicians. The car is in exceptional mechanical condition and just had a clutch replacement within the last two years and still has 70% clutch life left. This Maserati’s Black paint is in exceptional condition and shows extremely minimal stone chips in the front nose only. The rest of the paint and body are completely dent, ding, scratch and damage free. The leather interior shows exceptionally well with very light creasing in the leather on the drivers seat. The passenger seats looks to be in excellent condition. The center console and switchgear are in excellent condition with only a couple buttons showing some light use. The convertible top is still in excellent condition and does not show any damage or tears. The leather dash top does not show any peeling or any kind of waviness or damage and both door panels look almost new. All of the carpets are in excellent condition and do not show any real use. This Maserati starts right up and performs exceptionally well. It shifts through all of its gear with ease and is incredibly responsive. The brakes are excellent, the suspension and the steering all feel superb and show no signs of issues. The tires show about 60% tread life left and the original Maserati wheels are in beautiful condition free from any curb rash or scuffing. The car comes with a premium sound system, full power accessories, two Maserati keys with the remotes, power convertible soft top, power memory seats, navigation, cd changer and more. The car comes with all of its original Maserati owners hand books, warranty books and dealer books in their blue leather case.
