The Hummer brand arose in 1992 with the civilian version of AM General’s High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV or Humvee) in 1992. Designated Hummer H1, that vehicle was built on the same m998 platform as its military counterparts and featured the same off road capabilities and durability while offering a more appealing interior to owners. All 1992's (except for a limited number of fleet vehicles) were "Limited Edition" models and were numbered 1 through 1,000 but only 316 1992 models were built. "Limited Edition" badges on the body and a personalized plate on the dash identified the Limited Edition Hummers. Price included a factory tour and special one day training session.

This particular H1 is finished in red over a tan interior and is one of only 316 H1's produced for this introductory model year,179 of which are four-passenger hard tops. Tan was the only official factory color available in 1992, however, custom colors were available to buyers at an additional cost. At the time of writing it is unknown if this is a repainted tan truck or one of just five that left the factory painted in red. While originally powered by a naturally aspirated 6.2 liter diesel, it is now equipped with a 454-cid gas powered V-8 with a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. It also benefits from air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, upgraded to power windows and has been outfitted with Autometer gauges. It also has diamond plate rocker panel protection and the diamond plating carries over into the engine bay. It has custom wheels as well and it looks as though the CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) remains connected although it is now known if the system is fully functioning. All together, this Hummer is in nice condition with tasteful upgrades that improve upon the original 1992 platform that Hummer offered.
