1978 was the 25th anniversary of the Chevrolet Corvette. In celebration, a re-designed body was introduced; the new rear window provided more space behind the seats. The 1978 Corvette was the pace car for the Indy 500. This is one of the limited edition pace cars, easily denoted with a distinctive Black and Silver two-tone paint with a red pinstripe.

Factory pace car replicas were equipped with a V-8, glass T-tops, alloy wheels, power windows and power door locks, rear defogger, air conditioning, sport mirrors and an AM/FM stereo. Event graphics, emblems, front and rear spoilers were additions to the typical platform. This car still has its original window sticker and the odometer only shows 100 miles since new.
