235.5-cid, 108-hp OHV inline six-cylinder engine, three-speed manual transmission, solid front axle and live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 115-inches

One of the longest-running models in the history of automobiles, Chevrolet’s truck-based Suburban all-purpose vehicle has been in continuous production since 1935.

This tidy example has been completely restored. Handsome in bright red with black fenders, it has excellent contours and paint. There is very little brightwork but what there is, presents very well throughout. It has three rows of seating, in tan vinyl, tan vinyl headliner and black rubber floor mats. Period features include a crank-out windshield for ventilation and “barn doors” at the back. Optional equipment comprises a heater, door hinge mirrors and a by-pass oil filter.

A body off-restoration in 2001, it has been driven just test and exercise mileage since completion. The original 216-cid engine has been replaced with a newer Fleetmaster 235-cid unit, along with 12-volt electrics. Fitted with Coker Classic 6.00-16 whitewall tires, it is as smart a Suburban as you’ll find from the immediate postwar period.
