Ferrari debuted the F355, its new rear-mid-engine berlinetta, at the 1994 Geneva Motor Show. Tucked behind its passenger compartment, a 3.5-liter version of Ferrari’s V-8 engine, with lineage reaching back to Dino racing-program days, featured a new five-valve cylinder head. Power output grew over its 348 predecessor to 375 horsepower, thanks also to the Bosch Motronic engine management system. A six-speed manual gearbox was standard, while Ferrari’s F1 automated manual was optional.

Recognizing that owners valued the ability to comfortably arrive in style just as much as they wanted to vault down the autostrada, Ferrari also fitted the car with two-mode adjustable dampers. Newly standard power-assisted steering was praised for its road feel. The wind-tunnel-honed bodywork didn’t look much different from the 348 in profile, and yet it was refined to an exceptional degree. The F355’s clean detailing retained the hidden pop-up headlights for one more generation, pairing them with softer lines and characteristic intakes integrated into the doors.

Ferrari introduced the F355 Spider in 1995, it was the first convertible Ferrari to feature a power-operated soft-top that lowered at the press of a button. Even more impressive, this addition did not compromise driving dynamics. The F355’s rigid, semi-monocoque steel chassis with variable-section, tubular front and rear sub-frames ensured that the open-top F355 retained the capabilities of its hardtop sibling. Approximately 3,717 F355 Spiders were produced in total.

This 1997 Ferrari F355 Spider is finished in Fly Yellow over black with a black convertible top and is factory-equipped with a gated manual six-speed gearbox. The interior is trimmed in black leather and features black floormats; a fitted top boot conceals the top when down. The radio has been upgraded from the original factory unit, while a JL Audio four-channel amplifier in the front trunk further complements the upgraded audio. The car rides on 18-inch factory wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan Neova AD09 high-performance tires installed in 2023. Factory books in a leather sleeve and a partial tool kit are included in the sale.

The Ferrari has been in long-term storage since being acquired by the consignor in 2016. Offered with 33,587 miles at cataloguing time, the car shows signs of wear on the paint and leather trim consistent with this mileage. As per its Carfax on file, the last known belt service was in 2004. With its factory, gated six-speed and appealing color combination, this F355 Spider will be an ideal and engaging cars-and-coffee contender following recommissioning.
