The Series 2 Aston Martin Lagonda saloon launched at the 1976 London Motor Show, with deliveries beginning in 1979. Whereas the Series 1 variant was essentially a four-door DBS V8, the Series 2 was a clean-sheet design by William Towns, who employed the “folded paper” design language that was popular in the 1970s as seen on the DMC DeLorean, Lamborghini Countach, and Lotus Espirit. Only the dependable Tadek Marek 5.3-liter V-8 engine was carried over from Series 1 to Series 2 Lagondas. The interior was entirely new, featuring traditional swathes of soft leather juxtaposed with avant-garde and advanced instrumentation, providing a futuristic experience for both driver and passengers when compared to its competitors. With only 645 Lagondas produced from 1976 through 1989, according to Aston Martin, they remain rare.

This example sports a highly attractive maroon exterior over a tan leather interior with brown piping and beautiful burled wood inlays. It features a delightful period-correct NEC car phone and a replacement Continental head unit with USB connectivity. Accompanying paperwork includes a bill of sale, correspondence, notes, previous registrations, and a series of invoices dating back to 1993.

In 2018, the car received a major service with repairs to the suspension, brakes, engine, cooling, air conditioning, and exhaust. Showing just 22,437 miles at cataloguing time, this rare Aston Martin Lagonda is certain to turn heads and fast becoming a must-have for those seeking a unique addition to their collection.
