The Jaguar XK 140 replaced the groundbreaking XK 120 in late 1954, improving upon its predecessor’s success with a roomier interior, better steering, and greater overall refinement. The swoopy good looks that stunned the world at the XK 120’s unveiling in 1948 remained largely the same, augmented by more robust front and rear bumpers and a revised front grille.

Although the XK 140 was heavier than the preceding model, its 3.4-liter inline six-cylinder produced an additional 30 horsepower. A high-performance Special Equipment version, known as the XK 140 MC, was even more powerful. With the straight-port cylinder head from the C-Type racer, two-inch SU carburetors, and dual exhaust, it put out an impressive 210 brake horsepower. The Special Equipment package also included heavier torsion bars and wire wheels.

This beautifully restored XK 140 MC completed manufacture on 31 December 1954 and is finished in its factory color of Pastel Blue. The Blue soft-top and Dark Blue leather trim are also factory correct, with the only deviation from the original color configuration being gray piping on the interior rather than the factory-specified Light Blue. Dispatched on 24 January 1955 to Los Angeles, it came equipped from the factory with the desirable Special Equipment (MC) package, as confirmed by a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate on file. While it does not retain its original engine, it is fitted with a period-correct 3.4-liter inline six-cylinder engine with C-Type cylinder head.

After spending much of its life on the West Coast, this XK 140 was treated to a ground-up, nut-and-bolt restoration to concours standards in the 1990s, after which it reportedly garnered top awards at regional and national concours. The previous restoration now pleasantly mellowed, and boasting chrome wire wheels, Lucas auxiliary lamps, and potent 3.4-liter engine with C-Type cylinder head, this lovely Jaguar in a rarely seen color will provide much enjoyment driving on scenic roads and showing at concours.
