RM Sotheby’s first collector car auction held during the renowned Techno Classica Essen fair was a resounding success, with 86 percent of all lots on offer sold and total sales of €18.7 million. During the two-day sale, 229 lots crossed the auction block before a packed room of bidders from 46 countries, 40 percent of which were first-time clientele. The remainder of the famed Youngtimer collection brought in strong sales—many of which eclipsed their high estimate. A trio of Lancia rally homologation legends sparked spirited bidding contests, with the 1985 Lancia Delta S4 Stradale nearly doubling its high estimate. A beautifully restored 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Cabriolet A brought the top result, reaching and selling within its pre-sale estimate.
