Prepared for competition by Tom Walkinshaw Racing, this exact chassis, no. 002, was piloted by David Brabham, John Nielsen, and future Formula 1 star David Coulthard in the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in 1993. Fittingly, this works-campaigned Jaguar will return to Le Mans for the 100-year anniversary of the legendary competition on 9 June for RM Sotheby’s centenary sale.
In the second part of this video, go behind the scenes at Gun Hill Studios’ massive infinity wall, as this race-tuned Jaguar receives the star treatment from the talented on-staff photographers and videographers. Watch as they carefully remove the fully detachable composite nose, tail, and body panels on this XJ220 C LM, revealing the twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V-6 engine and motorsport-grade components.
