When the Porsche 917 bowed out of international competition in the mid-1970s, few people ever thought they would see the model race in anger again. That all changed in 1981 when one final example—dubbed the 917-K81— was built by Kremer Racing for a final last-gasp tilt at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. What followed was one of the great underdog stories from the world of motorsport.  Join us as we fire up the legendary 5-litre flat-12 and take it back where it belongs: the track.
