Completed by Singer Vehicle Design in November 2022, the Acel commission boasts the Porsche Motorsports North America built 4.0-litre engine at its heart, mated to a six-speed manual transmission with all that power managed through the optional Ohlins sport adjustable suspension and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes.
The engine itself was the result of a collaboration between Porsche Motorsports North America and Signer Vehicle designs, which saw engines for Singer’s Classic Services built at Porsche Motorsports North America’s headquarters in Los Angeles to Singer Vehicle Design’s own specifications. These engines were all built to 4.0-litres in displacement and fitted with an improved crankshaft, a Porsche Motorsport oil pump, revised valve lash specification in an effort to improve higher stability at higher rpms with increased durability, and optimization of fan performance to make the car easier to drive during normal driving conditions. Approximately thirty of these engines were produced, and they are considered highly desirable today, offering the highest output in terms of horsepower and torque across the Classic Services range.
Avoiding the traditional route to choose a colour from Porsche’s back catalog, the Acel commission is finished in Verde Zeltweg paintwork, a shade more commonly associated with Porsche’s arch rivals from Maranello. Protected by full-car paint protection film, the car also boasts ghosted Porsche lettering along both sides. At the rear, both the Porsche and Singer logos are finished in 24 carat gold, with nickel bumperettes and brake calipers in champagne with no lettering for a vintage feel.
Inside, the Acel commission is trimmed in cream “Zelder” leather interior with carbon bucket seats and weave inserts on both the door panels and seat centres with nickel seat grommets. In a nod to 911s of past, the car is fitted with the early 911 gauge set (with a Schleppzeiger Tell-Tale tachometer as a special wishes option), yet the car is also fitted with the Porsche Classic Navigation system, equipped with Apple CarPlay, an upgraded Audison amp, Dynaudio speakers, and subwoofer, offering a 21st century infotainment experience alongside classic looks.
In addition to the aforementioned tachometer, a variety of non-standard, ‘special wish’ options were selected for the Acel commission, most notably a second set of Fuchs-style wheels and tyres, as well as an additional Momo Prototipo steering wheel. These are one-piece wheels with body-coloured centres and shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. In an effort to adequately protect the most touch-sensitive areas of the cabin, the dash strip, emergency brake handle, and door pulls have all be upholstered in black leather. Adding to the car’s practicality, the rear seats are fully deleted and replaced with special cubbies to offer some additional storage.
Having been driven less than 1,000 kms since the completion of its reimagining by Singer Vehicle Design, the Acel commission is offered with a full Singer Vehicle Design warranty, having recently been inspected by the Differs Group, Singer’s authorized after sales service partner in the Netherlands, who found the car to be in excellent condition throughout.
A rare sight in continental Europe, any Classic Services is truly a sensational vehicle to behold, and the Acel commission is fitted with all of the most desirable options, including the 4.0-litre engine, six-speed manual gearbox, Ohlins adjustable suspension, and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. This car would certainly revel in being used as intended, providing what is perhaps one of the greatest driving experiences one can have behind the wheel of Porsche’s iconic 911.
