LCE Performance (abbreviated from Lake Constance Engineering) made a name for itself internationally in high-end auto-tuning, and have achieved numerous records at racing events. Arguably their most impressive work to date is their Sportquattro replicas, and it is believed that this is the first time one has been offered publicly for sale to our knowledge.

A great deal of development work by LCE Performance and many years of experience have made it possible to offer Sportquattro replicas with 100% TÜV approval and even H-approval to its customers. Most notably, LCE Performance are the only builders of Sportquattro replicas in the world that have achieved this.

LCE Performance’s Sportquattro replicas are tested relentlessly to ensure exceptional performance and reliability, including successfully passing the 3,000-kilometer mark on the Nürburgring Nordschleife run for body and rigidity tests in their demo car. Speaking to their ingenuity and reputation, one of the first buyers of a Sportquattro Replica from LCE, was none other than the late Ken Block. Instantly recognizable as a Sportquattro but with several distinct details to set it apart, each car is hand built bespoke to the customer’s request, with numerous opportunities available for customisation both mechanically and cosmetically.

This particular ‘Shorti’, is fitted with a bespoke 2-stage mapping, allowing the driver to switch from 450 horsepower to 550 horsepower with the touch of a button. Other features in the impressive specification list include a six-speed manual gearbox and carbon fibre bodywork finished in the special optional extra colour of Etna Red (at a cost of nearly €14,000). It rides on KW V3 suspension, with contrasting matt-satin white, five-spoke concave wheels, wrapped in Toyo R888R tyres. Smoke-tinted indicators and taillights including the rear light strip with the iconic ‘Coupe’ lettering inset, complete the carefully curated exterior. Inside, the car is fitted with Recaro Classic LS seats and a three-spoke Audi Sport steering wheel, retrimmed in black leather and Alcantara, along with the door cards, headlining, and the replica Sportquattro dashboard.

The chassis is strengthened throughout and includes an ‘invisible’ roll bar to maintain the understated yet refined interior. Under the bonnet, you’ll find a thermo-insulated manifold and carbon fibre details adorning the monstrous 2.5-litre in-line five-cylinder turbo powerplant.

Upon completion of the work, the car was road registered in Germany in early 2024 and subject to 500 miles of road testing by LCE before it was exported to the UK in the spring of 2024. The car has covered just 1,193 miles at the time of cataloguing, which includes the testing done by LCE Performance. Importantly, it has been fitted with a Scorpion M Series S5 tracker.

With ‘resto-mods’ continuing to become a distinct subsect of the classic car industry, LCE Performance stands apart from the pack with regards to their small production numbers and high standards of engineering.

With its left-hand-drive configuration and fabulous specification, this car is sure to appeal to enthusiasts in continental Europe or North America. It is believed that this is the first car to be offered for public sale, making it a distinct opportunity for the individual looking to skip the waiting list, which currently stands at over four years long.
