The result of two decades of dedicated effort by Dr. Terry Bennett, the collection, best described as a ‘treasure chest of collectibles’, comprised of an amazingly diverse series of motor cars, motorcycles, boats, bicycles, architectural pieces and other vintage memorabilia. Auctions America specialists spent an intense two months preparing for the sale, sorting into approximately 1100 individual lots. Capturing the interest of the global collecting community, bidders represented nine countries around the world and 34 states across the US, with more than 50 percent of bidders representing first time clientele.
“We are pleased with the results from the weekend’s Terry Bennett Collection sale, which provided a great celebration of one man’s incredible passion and drive for the collecting hobby, as well as illustrated Auctions America’s strength and expertise in hosting single-vendor sales and collection dispersal from start to finish. We look forward to further building on this segment of our business in the coming months,” says Donnie Gould, president Auctions America by RM.
Top sales honors at the weekend’s auction went to a rare 1925 Lancia Lambda Roadster with side-by-side rumble seats which sold for a remarkable $207,000 before a packed house during Saturday’s sale session. The object of a lively bidding war lasting more than 10 minutes, the sale was met by a standing ovation from the crowd.
