One of just 250 examples built to pay homage to the Porsche 356 America Roadster of the 1950s, this 1992 911 America Roadster was completed in Stuttgart on 6 March 1992 clad just as it is today: In Grand Prix White over Black leather trim with a black fabric convertible soft top and color-matched Grand Prix White 17-inch Porsche Cup wheels. A build report from VIN Analytics lists the car as equipped with optional heated, electrically adjustable sport front seats, cruise control, and the color-matched Cup wheels with Porsche crested center caps.
After its completion, this America Roadster was sold new to Canada via Downtown Fine Cars of Toronto, Ontario. The car’s original warranty and maintenance book shows a delivery inspection performed 11 November 1992 followed by continued regular service entries through the late 1990s.
Acquired by the White Collection in 2016, the car is now offered in a wonderfully preserved state, still cloaked in its factory coat of Grand Prix White paint. While in the White Collection, the roadster has been started and run to operating temperature on a monthly basis, and it shows just 31,401 kilometers (~19,512 miles) at time of cataloguing. It is accompanied by a factory jack, tool roll, lug wrench, assortment of spare parts, and period-correct Alpine stereo with CD changer and amplifier.
This truly cherished, tastefully optioned 964 America Roadster is a tribute to the original 356 America Roadster conceived by US distributor Max Hoffman—a model that helped establish the Porsche legend on both road and track and served as a predecessor to the storied Speedster. Still wearing its original Grand Prix White finish, it would be an excellent addition to any collection and is perfect for those looking to experience an air-cooled 911 aimed squarely at the purist.
